Recording with Chrome Extension

Recording with the Chrome Extension

The Tamloot Chrome extension lets you record Google Meet and Zoom web sessions directly from your browser. It captures both meeting audio and your microphone, then automatically generates AI-powered session notes.

This guide walks you through everything from installation to viewing your finished notes.

1. Install the Extension

Install the Tamloot extension from the Chrome Web Store:

  1. Open the Tamloot extension page on the Chrome Web Store
  2. Click "Add to Chrome"
  3. Confirm the installation by clicking "Add extension" in the popup

2. Pin the Extension

Pin Tamloot to your toolbar so it's always easy to access:

  1. Click the puzzle piece icon in the top-right corner of Chrome (Extensions menu)
  2. Find Tamloot in the list
  3. Click the pin icon next to it

The Tamloot icon will now appear in your browser toolbar for quick access.

3. Sign In

The extension uses your Tamloot dashboard account for authentication:

  1. Click the Tamloot icon in your toolbar
  2. Click "Sign in with Google"
  3. A new tab opens with the Tamloot dashboard login page
  4. Complete the sign-in process (Google OAuth or email/password)
  5. Once signed in, the extension automatically receives your credentials

You only need to sign in once — the extension remembers your session.

4. Accept the Recording Consent

Before your first recording, a one-time consent screen will appear. Check the checkbox to confirm all participants are aware the session is being recorded, then click "Continue".

5. Grant Microphone Permission

Before your first recording, the extension will ask for microphone access:

  1. Click "Grant Microphone Access" when prompted
  2. Allow microphone permission in the browser popup
  3. If the browser doesn't show a permission popup, a dedicated setup page will open — grant the permission there

Microphone access is optional but recommended. Including your voice alongside the meeting audio significantly improves transcription accuracy. You can click "Skip" to record only the meeting audio.

6. Record Your Session

If the extension finds a matching session scheduled for today, it will suggest linking the recording to it. You can accept the suggestion or skip it — a new session will be created automatically either way.

Click "Start Recording" to begin. A red "Tamloot Recording" indicator and a timer will appear on the meeting page. When you're done, click "Stop Recording" — the extension will finalize and upload the remaining audio. The recording also stops automatically if you close the meeting tab.

After recording, Tamloot automatically transcribes the session and generates AI-powered notes. Open the session in the dashboard — once processing is complete (usually 2–5 minutes), you'll see a summary, key themes, client items, professional notes, and resources.

Tips

  • Microphone permission is optional but recommended. Including your voice alongside the meeting audio improves transcription accuracy.
  • Minimum recording duration is 2 minutes. Shorter recordings are automatically skipped.
  • Supported platforms: Google Meet (meet.google.com) and Zoom web app (app.zoom.us).
  • Health indicator: During recording, a green wifi icon means uploads are healthy. A warning icon means the connection may be degraded.
  • If you switch browser tabs during recording, the recording continues in the background — no need to stay on the meeting tab.
