# Recording an In-Person Session

Tamloot isn't just for online meetings. Record a face-to-face conversation and you get the same transcript, summary, themes, and action items.

There are two ways to do it, and one fallback.

---

## On Your iPhone

The [Tamloot iOS app](https://apps.apple.com/app/id6758220887) is the best option for in-person sessions — you record in the room, from your pocket.

1. Tap **"Record Session"** on the Home screen (or from a contact's screen)
2. Allow microphone access the first time
3. A live waveform and timer show while recording
4. Tap stop when you're done — it uploads on its own

Recording keeps going if you leave the app. A mini recording bar stays visible in-app, and the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island show live status.

---

## In Your Browser

No iPhone? Record straight from the dashboard on any device.

1. Go to [app.tamloot.cc](https://app.tamloot.cc) and click **In-Person** in the quick actions
2. Optionally pick the contact you're meeting
3. Allow the browser's microphone prompt
4. Click **Start Recording**, then **Stop Recording** when you're done

It uploads and takes you straight to the new session.

---

## Record Elsewhere, Upload After

If you'd rather use a voice recorder or another app, record however you like and [upload the audio file](/docs/upload-recording) afterward. Most phones save to M4A or MP3, both supported.

---

## Recording Consent

Always let the other person know before you start:

- Get consent before recording
- Explain what the recording is used for — transcription and session notes
- Make clear they can ask you to stop at any time

---

## Tips for a Good Recording

- **Place the device between you** for balanced audio
- **Choose a quiet space** — background noise costs you transcription accuracy
- **Check battery and storage** before a long session
- **Make sure both people are audible** — a one-sided recording makes for one-sided notes
- **Link the session to a contact** so it joins their history and feeds meeting prep
